Laundry Room Organization

News flash…my laundry room is much smaller than I would like. Given my situation, I have had to maximize space and streamline my laundry room organization to get the most of this space. Here are the things I have done to make sure I don’t have a panic attack while folding laundry!

Assess Your Situation

First of all, in order to organize your laundry room, you need to assess what is in there now, and if it belongs. Organizing my small laundry room required me to only keep the essentials in this room. Otherwise, it would be overflowing with clutter. The items I keep in my laundry room are:

  • Laundry Supplies
  • Stain Removers
  • Extra Hangers
  • Cleaning Supplies

As you can see, I do not have a lot of extra space for odds and ends. This has been a good thing as it prevented my laundry room to be a catch-all for everything. Keeping my small laundry room organized has meant sticking to only essentials being in here.

Use a Hanging bar for Instant Laundry Room Organization

I used a shower rod between two of my cabinets so that I could hang everything easily. This has really cut down on my ironing. Ok I need to be honest. I don’t really iron. This has really cut down on my family walking around with completely wrinkled clothing!

Easy Access to Laundry Room Supplies

In order for my laundry room to be efficient, I needed to be able to access my supplies easily. My cabinets were too far above my washer and dryer, plus I am short! While I would love to have my supplies out of sight, that was not an option for me. I ended up getting a cute tin basket from Home Goods, and I placed it on top of my washing machine. It serves two purposes. It is really cute to look at, and I don’t need a stepladder to reach my laundry supplies! So, another box was checked during my laundry room organization quest.

Use Hampers to Further Organize your Laundry

I was lucky enough to have some cabinet space near my door. Instead of adding extra cabinets, I used this area to house pull-out hampers. I am so glad I did this! No more looking at piles of dirty laundry! If you don’t have any cabinet space, you can get some really cute baskets that will add to the decor of your laundry room and will still serve a purpose. That is what I call a two for one deal!

To Stay Organized, Keep Everything Else out of your Laundry Room

I made it a point to make sure my laundry room did not become a catch-all for everything. This has happened in the past. I made sure to minimize my supplies and limit it to only the ones I needed. I made a place for each item with baskets and containers. This has made my laundry room organization really streamlined, and I am really happy with the results!
